Alliance Technologies Acquires Computility

Full-service IT firm expands service offering and expertise in networking and association management software

October 3, 2006

Des Moines, Iowa — Alliance Technologies has acquired certain assets of networking and software firm Smart CRM, Inc. dba Computility. The purchase further strengthens Alliance's leadership as Iowa's largest full-service IT provider. It's also a move that helps maintain important technology jobs in Iowa.

"We have a reputation for providing comprehensive technology solutions," said Mike Lang, president of Alliance Technologies. "The purchase of Computility fortifies that position by extending our offerings in the networking and software arenas. By adding Computility's subscription model and network services to our networking offerings, we will offer businesses a broader range of options for building their networks."

"Computility's software solution delivers quality software to associations using an On-Demand subscription model. The On-Demand Subscription delivery allows Alliance Technologies to offer high-quality software that typically only the largest organizations could afford. Computility has established the product in that market, helping associations around the country," Lang continued. "We look forward to continue the growth that the service has exhibited in recent years, and building on that success for the future."

Current Alliance and Computility customers will continue to receive the levels and types of services they are accustomed to receiving. New clients will have a broader range of options to choose from in networking and software. The acquisition includes the retention of a majority of Computility staff, providing continuity to current customers.

Computility was founded in 1999, originally as Harvest Services, in Des Moines. The organization provides networking and business management software to small- and medium-sized organizations.

Retaining Iowa Technology Jobs

"Technology talent in Iowa is crucial to the future of the state," said Leann Jacobsen, president of Technology Association of Iowa. "Last year's Battelle study by the State of Iowa identified the need to 'retain, attract and develop the IT workforce' as one of the strategies for building the industry in Iowa. Alliance's acquisition means that existing jobs stay in our state, and helps strengthen the industry for future growth."
