WHO-TV Des Moines, Channel 13, did a follow up segment on the results of a server virtualization project implemented by Alliance Technologies for customer Merit Resources. Alliance Technologies finished the project for Merit Resources in July of 2008.

The results of this virtualization, using VMware software, allowed Merit Resources to have an estimated savings of $100,000 today. Virtualization allows Merit Resources to grow without having to budget for additional physical servers to support the growth. By implementing virtualized servers, there is a also significant impact on the environment. Merit Resources has four physical servers running 43 virtualized servers. Running 43 virtualized servers equates to planting 860 trees and removing 65 cars from the roads.
