DES MOINES, September 19, 2011 – The Des Moines Register released the results of its first-ever Top Workplaces survey and Alliance Technologies was one of the highest-rated companies.

Over 900 companies throughout Iowa were asked to participate in the survey.  Employees were asked what was most important to them by rating various statements, such as “I feel genuinely appreciated at this company.” Then the survey asked the employees to rate their employers on those statements.

In the category of 50-149 employees, Alliance Technologies rated 17th among all businesses throughout Iowa, and 8th out of those in Central Iowa.

Methodology
Outreach: The survey was conducted by WorkplaceDynamics. They reached out to employers with at least 50 employees in Iowa to participate (906 companies). They used a combination of print and online ads in the Register to solicit nominations, and direct outreach to employees via email and phone. 117 employers agreed to be surveyed.
Survey: The surveys were done both online and via paper format. Employees responded to a set of statements using a seven-point scale. Each of the statements was tested to ensure it had a high correlation with how employees felt about their workplaces, which was calculated by correlating the statement responses to a control question that asked each employee to rate his workplace on a scale of zero to 99.
Response Requirements: A response rate of at least 35% (for employees based in Iowa) was required.
