With the growing threat of flooding in Iowa this spring, it’s extremely important to make sure your critical business data and information stays safe so that your business can continue as normal. As we all know, Iowa has been hit hard in past years by floods that cause devastating damage to both homes and businesses. This year presents its own challenges. With help from Alliance Technologies, there is still time to prepare so your business isn’t affected.
The experts at Alliance Technologies can help identify information technology risk areas and develop a business continuity plan to provide recovery services. They’ll help set processes to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of flooding or other natural disasters. Associated services include:
· Transferring and setting up servers and other network resources to a secure datacenter or other offsite location
· Transferring network resources to a cloud/virtual infrastructure
· Infrastructure assessments - review and documentation of systems, networks, storage, applications, and business continuity processes
· Temporary office space for employees that need to relocate
Iowa businesses, Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. Law Firm and YMCA of Greater Des Moines, took advantage of Alliance Technologies’ solutions during the destructive floods that washed over Iowa in June of 2008. The YMCA faced flooding in the mission critical server room that serviced multiple locations.
“In 2008 Alliance Technologies helped us physically relocate servers out of our downtown location,” said Vernon Delpesce, YMCA president. “Today, our network infrastructure is hosted and maintained within Alliance Technologies secure datacenter. As it relates to our information technology, I am confident that we will be completely unaffected if the flooding reaches any of our locations.”
Law Firm Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. was affected by the flood waters as well. Their employees were unable to reach their sixth floor office due to flooding, so they enlisted Alliance Technologies’ help to move their network and rebuild it again at an alternate location. As a result, more than 40 employees could continue to do business as normal.
“When the waters started to rise in 2008, Alliance Technologies was creative in working with us to produce options for our firm so we could continue business as normal,” said Joe Gassman of Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. “The cooperation and efforts of the technical staff made the transition of our office to their facilities extremely efficient and with an unexpectedly low level of incident or difficulty. Because of Alliance’s creative solution and availability of office space, we were able to have an uninterrupted continuation of business during a period of time that proved to be very difficult for the people and businesses of Des Moines.”
The growing floods threat in Iowa will continue throughout this spring. Alliance reminds organizations that planning ahead reaps many benefits and there is still time to create a disaster recovery plan specific to how the natural disaster will affect your organization and your information technology.
