Chad Larson is the former President of Triple Point Solutions and the Technical Strategist for the Alliance Technologies Enterprise Architecture Group. In his Corner he provides a little human perspective from the frontlines of Information Technology.

It’s almost Thanksgiving. When the holidays roll around, I always try to steal a moment to reflect on the previous year, and this year has been a year of change and growth. The year is almost complete and I’m looking forward to next year.

However, the year isn't quite over – in fact, right now everyone is doing their end of year budget reviews and building next year's budgets.  The new technologies and projects are exciting and helpful - some of the new virtualization technologies are the stuff technicians could barely dream of just a few years ago. Hardware dependency is disappearing. New applications are installing without reinventing the wheel. It's an exciting time for everyone.
 
It's also a time to grab techie holiday deals. Personally I'm considering a Boxee or an iPad, something to keep me entertained when I'm not working. I'm also trying to stay away from thinkgeek.com – I never leave that website without buying something. It's hard to surf past. But that's me.
