Chad’s Corner

 

Chad Larson is the former President of Triple Point Solutions and the Technical Strategist for the Alliance Technologies Enterprise Architecture Group. In his Corner he provides a little human perspective from the frontlines of Information Technology.
 
I just got back from my summer vacation and have to tell you: it’s nice to be back at work. For my vacation, if you can call it that, I volunteered at a hockey camp for 77 boys between the ages of 10 and 15. I understand now what teachers must feel like at the end of the day. And I understand why they need a three month summer break.
 
The planning and preparation for a vacation almost doubles my normal workload, and when that vacation comes I’m never completely ready for it. Before I go on vacation I must write briefings on all my current projects and prepare someone to cover for me just in case all my customers don’t go on vacations too.
  
I hope that you get a vacation and a chance to get away this summer. If you need a backup or someone to cover for you, we have some great people to help you. They will take over your responsibilities and let you just relax. We’re even here for you if you plan to go to a remote island with no phone service, ride on a nice boat, or just play at a water park and have to leave your phone on dry land or in a zip lock bag.
 
The summer brings us many opportunities to spend time with our families and friends.  I hope that you get a chance to enjoy them.
