Patch ALERT: Stay Up to Date

Software is constantly being patched and for the most part we assume that clients are keeping up to date. But the last month saw so many patches, security fixes, and vulnerabilities and we decided pointing these things out specifically was something extra we could do to make sure your systems stay safe.February 2010 saw major patches from:

Microsoft – this software giant pushed out patches for almost all their products throughout February, so make sure that your operating system, Office, and browser are up to date. There was also a recent zero-day bug found in a piece of Internet Explorer that is exploited by tricking your browser into downloading a help file and then running malicious code. If a website asks you to push F1 for help, don’t do it. This should be fixed soon, but in the meantime, be careful.

Adobe – Adobe recently updated their download manager and Acrobat product, so make sure that your adobe products are up to date.

That’s all for now, but remain vigilant. Good security is about staying up to date, so make sure you do.
